What is Turner Syndrome?

Turner syndrome is a genetic disorder that occurs only in females and arises from partial or complete absence of the X chromosome.
What are the physical phenotypes of this syndrome includes?
There are many physical phenotypes included in the Turner syndrome including:

  •      Lack of pubertal maturation
  •      Infertility
  •      Short stature
  •      Webbing of the neck
  •      Horseshoe kidney
What causes Turner Syndrome?
Turner Syndrome is the only sex chromosome disorder that fails to have an X chromosome present, which is needed compatible for life. In Turner syndrome, the loss of one of the sex chromosomes is expected to occur after the zygote has formed or the prior to the fusion of the gametes.
